"I feel well-being is often a product of feeling purposeful and part of a community. For me, working in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team is an  important step in achieving this goal for the consumers we work with.  It’s in this setting that I feel we offer our consumers the most options for achieving their own definition of well-being, which is different for everyone.  Taking the time to truly hear each individuals definition of what would make them feel well is one of the most import things we can do for our consumers.

"When I think of my own personal sense of well-being I know I need to maintain the ability to laugh and not take myself too seriously.  I need to feel balanced having time for family, friends, work, reading, and physical well-being.  I need to know that I am part of something bigger than myself."

MateoLuis  |  Staff Interpreter & Coordinator

"Ani Defranco said it best when she said 'I know there is strength in the differences between us and I know there is comfort where we overlap.'  When I think about diversity and how we at the Mental Health Center of Denver strive to embrace, experience and embody the concept of diversity in our work,  I am proud to be part of an amazing team, within an incredibly dynamic organization. Watch and walk with us as we grow..."

*As a token of gratitude, ML's team has undertaken a project to make him one paper crane a day for 1,000 days.

"Good mental health is an essential part of a community’s well-being. When community members are valued, engaged and striving to their fullest potential, everyone wins."

I use my strength connectedness to seek out mutual bonds that I have with others rather than focusing on our differences, and I take the necessary time to get to know the whole person. That goes both ways at the Mental Health Center of Denver; I feel that I'm seen as a whole person, too. There's room to grow and equal opportunities for everyone here.

Mental Health Center of Denver is a strengths-based culture, and staff is encouraged to identify and develop their individual strengths.

Anna  | Electronic Health Record Manager

Top 5 Strengths: Consistency, Discipline, Empathy, Harmony, Positivity

"I find it very intriguing that we all come from such different educational backgrounds – I received my BA in Linguistics, which is not a degree that would typically lead to a career in mental health. In fact, I never would have imagined that I would end up working in mental health. In addition, I love to learn about the different experiences that have led people to the Mental Health Center of Denver.

"Everyone has different viewpoints allowing us to have a continually improving workplace. Many times, when I’ve found myself stuck in a certain way of thinking, it takes a fresh perspective for me to see things differently and more efficiently."
